ABOUT STATUS UNKNOWN
A movement built by warriors, for warriors.
Because chronic illness should never mean invisibility.
Status Unknown is a nonprofit movement for chronic illness visibility, support, advocacy, education, and systemic change. We exist to make chronically ill people seen, believed, supported, and included in healthcare, work, school, community, and systems that affect everyday life.
WE KNOW WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO BE UNSEEN.
Chronic illness changes how people live, work, parent, study, earn, show up, and survive. But too often, the world only responds to what it can see.
People are dismissed by doctors. Misunderstood by employers. Isolated from community. Judged by family and friends. Forced to keep pretending they are okay because the systems around them were not built to recognize invisible pain, fatigue, disability, grief, or uncertainty.
Status Unknown exists because invisibility is not just painful , it is dangerous. When people are unseen, they are unsupported. When they are unsupported, they fall through systems that were never designed for them.
We are here to change that.
DISMISSED.
MISUNDERSTOOD.
EXHAUSTED.
STILL FIGHTING.
BUILT FROM LIVED EXPERIENCE.
Status Unknown began from real life, from years of navigating chronic illness, medical uncertainty, financial pressure, isolation, and the emotional weight of trying to survive while still being expected to function like everything is normal.
What started as direct support for people in crisis has grown into a larger vision: a movement where chronically ill people are not treated like exceptions, burdens, or afterthoughts.
This work is personal. It is also structural. Status Unknown exists to turn lived experience into advocacy, community, education, direct support, and long-term change.
“Visibility changes everything.”
WHAT WE BELIEVE
Visibility Changes Everything
People cannot receive support if the world refuses to see what they are carrying. Giving visibility creates hope and illuminates the path forward.
Support Must Be Practical
Warriors need more than awareness. They need resources, connection, advocacy, and real help to navigate daily challenges.
Stories Create Power
Every story helps break silence, isolation, shame, and misunderstanding. Your voice is a tool for collective strength.
Systems Must Change
Chronic illness is not rare. Our workplaces, schools, healthcare systems, and communities must adapt to be truly inclusive.
